چکیده
Abstract Wood is commonly used in construction, but often perceived as being less safe than structures made from non-combustible materials. With the advancement of wood products and treatment, construction techniques, protective systems, this may not be case any longer. Using retrospective data fire departments across Canada, study aimed to determine whether type material (combustible or non-combustible) affected severity outcome a one six storey apartment building fire, after accounting for systems (smoke alarms sprinklers). The found that, adjusting presence smoke sprinklers, constructed materials did perform better terms injuries, requiring extinguishment by department, spreading beyond room origin. working sprinklers played central role reducing fire. Smoke both reduced odds department Sprinklers also injury rate. Overall, highlighted importance outcomes.

AKR1C1 as a Biomarker for Differentiating the Biological Effects of Combustible from Non-Combustible Tobacco Products
Smoking has been established as a major risk factor for developing oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), but less attention has been paid to the effects of smokeless tobacco products. Our objective is to identify potential biomarkers to distinguish the biological effects of combustible tobacco products from those of non-combustible ones using oral cell lines. Normal human gingival epithelial cel...
متن کاملOxidation kinetics of the combustible fraction of construction and demolition wastes.
Proper disposal of construction and demolition wastes (CDW) has received wide attention recently due to significantly large quantities of waste streams collected from razed or retrofitted buildings in many metropolitan regions. Burning the combustible fractions of CDW (CCDW) and possibly recovering part of the heat content for economic uses could be valuable for energy conservation. This paper ...
متن کاملMethod for Determining the Concentration of Unknown Combustible Gas †
It is known that catalytic sensors have different sensitivities to different combustible gases. Usually gas analyzers are calibrated by methane and not suitable for measuring other flammable gases. Correction is needed to get real concentration of other gases. In this paper it is shown that sensor sensitivity to one particular gas alters with sensor temperature and each gas has its own rate of ...
متن کاملConsumption of Combustible and Smokeless Tobacco - United States, 2000-2015.
Combustible and smokeless tobacco use causes adverse health outcomes, including cardiovascular disease and multiple types of cancer (1,2). Standard approaches for measuring tobacco use include self-reported surveys of use and consumption estimates based on tobacco excise tax data (3,4). To provide the most recently available tobacco consumption estimates in the United States, CDC used federal e...

are offset to a degree by revenue generated through fines. One barrier to successful implementation of Tobacco 21 laws is the prospect of incomplete compliance by retailers. Compliance with the 18-year minimum has been variable, and interventions to boost compliance have had mixed success.5 Some retailers may prove even more reluctant to comply with Tobacco 21 laws, particularly in challenging ...
